Wm Wyllie was the most distinguished marine artist of his day. His prolific output also means that many can still enjoy his art and his sketches – like this one of Loch Fyne skiffs are still available. Wyllie, seen here crossing the north sea with his wife and son, was a keen sailor from early youth and all his life. He owned a variety of boats and even designed and built sailing punts while he lived on the Medway. His wife Marion was a skilled race-winning helmswoman. Classic Sailor has a six page feature on Wm Wyllie, his boats and sailing life in the February March edition.
