Classic Sailor Magazine Issue 17 – August September 2017

Two of our main news stories this month are the Cheeki Rafiki Trial and the sale of the International Sailing Craft Association boats by auction. Leading features are the overnight endurance race that is the Three Rivers on the Norfolk Broads, a blow by blow account of one man’s experience of the storm-ridden OSTAR (yes he did make it across the Atlantic… and is now back). We also feature the Albert Strange Tally Ho – winner of the 1927 Fastnet – with a fabulous on deck account of her famous race 90 years ago this August, and the news that after languishing for three decades she has been taken for restoration in Washington State (USA) by Leo Goolden.

We have Stellas on the East Coast, Brits at the Little Sea known as the Morbihan, Cobles in Bridlington, cruising inland waters and how the Sea Rangers found sailing on a Thames Barge. (We have two pages of Barge News this month).
