The exhibition explores the mysterious fate of Sir John Franklin and his crew on their final expedition to discover the North West passage – a mystery that remains largely unsolved today. The exhibition has been developed by the Canadian Museum of History (Gatineau, Canada), in partnership with Parks Canada Agency and with the National Maritime Museum, and in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut and the Inuit Heritage Trust.
The exhibition is home to objects, artefacts, paintings and curiosities that together, tell the story of Franklin’s last venture into the Arctic.
The exhibition also explores how the oral testimonies of the Inuit have helped European explorers over centuries and were crucial in the search for the Franklin expedition.
