A photo essay of the book on Brest. It covers 30 years of the Brest Festival which held every four years (but not 2020) since 1992 in Brittany.

Some 2,000 vessels – from canoes to Tall Ships take part bringing 10,000 crew into this operational naval port. The organisers expect anything from 750,000 to 1m visitors.

The photos are from the bilingual book CELEBRATING TRADITIONAL BOATS / LES FÊTES MARITIMES DE BREST by Nigel Pert with captions and some explanatory notes by Dan Houston. It is a ‘landscape’ style coffee table book with high production values – on sale (through Amazon) or HERE  at classicsailor.com.

(Available in a French or English cover – the contents are exactly the same.)
The Brest festival is running for a week in 2024 from July 12th through to the 17th. There is a British village again (though it is the only such “village”) and the book of Brest will be on sale.
