Organised by the Bridlington Sailing Coble Preservation Society and The Coble and Keelboat Society, probably the two main coble societies in the country, and in full co-operation with the Bridlington Harbour Commissioners.
Once the mainstay of the inshore fishing industry, this open, wooden working boat, propelled by a dipping lug and jib foresail, could be seen at every port and coastal village from the Humber to the Tweed; referred to by many as the ‘coble coast’; during the 1800s and through to the early 1900s. Sadly, with the advent of more modern boat building material, together with the need to work more larger pots further offshore, this iconic craft is fast disappearing from the coast. The opportunity to see some beautifully restored examples of this traditional fishing vessel under sail creates a true nostalgic atmosphere of days gone by.
The organisers would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to take part in this fantastic ‘Festival of Sail’.

Around 12 cobles are expected and other traditional craft.
