From Press release:  Beds on Board
A strategic acquisition by UK-based Beds on Board has secured its position as the world’s leading provider of boat accommodation.

The sharing economy platform, established in 2015 on the Airbnb model, has acquired French competitor Boatyng to accelerate the brand’s global growth by adding thousands of new beds to its inventory from marinas and waterways across France and Europe.

With more than 75%* of Britons planning an overseas holiday in 2017 and nearly 20% of those heading to France, the addition of the Boatyng inventory will offer new accommodation options in a key market, from a houseboat overlooking the Eiffel Tower to a superyacht in the Riviera.

Jason Ludlow, co-founder of Beds on Board, said: “This is a major step in our growth and a really exciting addition to the Beds on Board story. We already have boats in over 60 countries and this strategic deal will give immediate benefits to boat owners looking to offset the cost of ownership and guests wanting to holiday in France.

“The sharing economy gives people access to things they couldn’t access before. With us that’s boats and staying on a boat offers great value from budget breaks to luxury coastal stays or city chic ‘boatrooms’.”

A peer-to-peer platform that connects boat owners and accommodation seekers, Beds on Board was founded in 2015 by Sir Peter Ogden and brothers Jason and Tim Ludlow. It has continued to go from strength-to-strength as it moves towards its target of introducing 1 million beds into the global tourism market without building a single property.
