The tenth English raid, for small boats using sail and oar, will be on and around the Blackwater from Monday August 17 to Saturday August 22, 2020.

Organised by Moray MacPhail , the Raid will be based at the Essex Outdoors Bradwell Centre, Waterside Road, Bradwell Waterside, Southminster CM0 7QY with sailing from Bradwell Marina next door to it. “The four days of sailing worked well in 2019 on the Clyde and we have repeated this formula,” Moray says.image lizzie-jpg

The Centre provides accommodation in bunk-bedded cabins, pitches for caravans/motorhomes (some of which could be rigged with electrics),
and pitches for tents. It is envisaged that they will provide breakfasts and packed lunches. They are also able to provide a crewed RIB to accompany the fleet.

Cars and trailers can be parked at the Marina after launching. For our kind of boats there is all-tide access from the marina. Sailing will take place to some or all of Wivenhoe, Mersea, Brightlingsea, Maldon, Osea etc.

Please note that we will probably be limited to 20-25 boats so please register your interest soonest.

Whilst the Raid is in the school holidays in order to encourage younger participants the Essex Outdoors centre is not set up for very young children.
There are no high chairs, for example.
