“What happened to “Enterprise” in Imperia”

Coming ashore after Sunday´s cancelled race we were informed that we had been DSQ for the whole regatta due to the fact that our skipper by mistake handed in the 2015 measurement certificate instead of the correct 2016 one.

As you can see from the appeal the race office never contacted us and neither did the Jury.

Out on the water last Sunday we were quite confident that we had won our class and also the overall victory in the Vintage Class.

Our big problem is that none of us speak Italian and we now understand that we need such a person in case we want to continue racing in Italy. I am not sure we will after what happened in Imperia and the lack of action from Panerai.

Most of the crew on “Enterprise” has raced successfully on “Manitou” for five years and were quite happy last year when we won overall.

We found “Enterprise” just before Christmas last year in Palma and signed a deal to buy her. We are six partners who own the boat. Claes Goran Nilsson, former partner in Manitou, Thomas Haraldson, helmsman and former helmsman on the 1977 and 1980 Americas Cup Challenges made by Sweden, Goran Rutgersson, 6 M World Champion and well known producer of yacht equipment, Christer Johansson, experienced Dragon sailor, Hans Andersson, three time Swedish Champion in Dragons and Lars Wiklund, former owner of Nimbus Boats and well known for merits in the Americas Cup and the Dragon Class.

Onboard as crew we have Magnus Augustsson who raced in the last four Americas Cup campaigns for different syndicates, Peter Kolni, with merits from the Olympic Games.

Our ambition is to have fun when racing and always try to stay out of protests. We want to act as sportsmen and help whenever we can. I think we showed that in Argentario when we assisted Symphoni when they had problems with a crewmember falling overboard.

Claes Göran Nilsson!
