A police investigation has been launched after a body was found on board on a sailing boat moored under the Tamar Bridge. The body of a 51 year old man was recovered from the moored boat in the Plymouth area on Friday morning after an operation involving police, ambulance and RNLI crews.

Emergency services were called to the vessel just before 11am after the alert was raised. Plymouth Lifeboat crew confirmed on Twitter that they were called out to the incident. The post said: “Assistance provided to Police, Ambulance Service and Undertakers in the recovery of a deceased person onboard a moored vessel.”

A spokesman for the RNLI confirmed the discovery and said it was up to the police to give out more information. He said: “All I can say is that we were called out to assist the police in recovering a deceased person from a moored sailing boat under the Tamar Bridge.”
