The famous Beaulieu Boat Jumble will not happen in April 2019

The Beaulieu Estate has decided not to stage the famous Boat Jumble, which has run almost every year since 1978, citing poor weather (which cancelled the event in 2012) and a decline in support reflecting the wider downturn in the fortunes of the marine industry.

Beaulieu Events Manager Judith Maddox said: “We have made the difficult decision not to include the Boatjumble – which has not been made lightly.

“Poor weather at the start of our events season – which is the only feasible gap in our busy calendar to hold this event – and decline in support, has led us to review this event.”

Beaulieu was the most famous maritime flea market in Europe where buyers and sellers came together for a Sunday’s nautical bargain hunting in the tranquil and picturesque location of the New Forest on the Hampshire/ Dorset border.

It was a particularly good event for the classic sailor or hunter of marine memorabilia due to the diverse range of stands. It was also a fun camping event where if you booked a stand you are able to pitch a tent or caravan in the scenic grounds overnight on the Saturday.
