Supporters’ terms and conditions

Thankyou very much for your interest in supporting Classic Sailor with a financial contribution. Our mission is to report on the sailing world with accurate and unbiased news and features and with an aim to promote best practice and traditional methods of seamanship in seaworthy boats. The website is constantly growing and we want to make it the best resource of its type that we can. Good work needs to be paid for and we need help and patronage to achieve our aims.

Your contribution will support our independence and help us to pay for journalism: writing, film and photography both in Britain and from overseas. Contributions are used purely for editorial purposes. These would normally include writing/photography fees, travel and basic subsistence where appropriate.

Contributions are accepted as a one-off payment, or recurring monthly or yearly payments made directly to Classic Sailor *(CS). More clarity is provided in our Ts and Cs below.

TERMS: The Agreement

When you make a contribution, you acknowledge and agree that the contribution is provided to Classic Sailor Ltd (CS) as an irrevocable gift, subject to any exercise of your right to receive a refund as described below and CS’ right to return any contribution at its discretion.

The contribution will be used by CS to support Editorial output only, and the contribution is made subject to the following Terms and Conditions, which shall constitute a legally binding agreement between the contributor and CS.

RECURRING CONTRIBUTION PAYMENTS

You agree to pay your selected contribution amount on a rolling monthly, half-yearly or yearly basis. Recurring contribution amounts cannot be changed without first cancelling and then re-subscribing.

You must provide us with complete and accurate payment information at the time you agree to pay a recurring contribution. Payment for a recurring contribution can be made by standing order, or through Paypal or direct debit.

Subscription payments are taken on a rolling basis and your recurring contribution will continue until it is ended, either by you or CS: see more under Refunds and Cancellations.

CONDITIONS

Contributions will be accepted from individuals as well as any other legal entities, based in the UK or overseas. We are very grateful for any contribution that is made in good faith towards our work.

Contributions can be made through the contributions page on classicsailor.com and by cheque or postal order to our address (see bottom of our website pages).

Contributions to CS are deposited in the Classic Sailor bank account. From the moment the contribution is processed, Classic Sailor is legally entitled to the full amount of the contribution and the contributor has no entitlement to the return of a contribution in any circumstances other than as specified in these Terms and Conditions; see Refunds below.

The contributor shall not expect to receive any special benefit in return for a contribution and will have no rights to influence the editorial policy or output of Classic Sailor.

Classic Sailor does not have charitable status so contributions in the UK do not qualify for gift aid. Also administration costs on a yearly and half-yearly subscription are less than a monthly; so more of your money reaches us directly. All the money raised will be used to improve Classic Sailor’s editorial output. If you have any queries about how we raise money through contributions then please email us using: admin@classicsailor.com

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

Classic Sailor reserves the right to refuse to return any contribution at its absolute discretion. In exceptional circumstances we will consider refunding a one-off contribution as long as a request is received within 28 days of deposit. We also reserve the right to refuse and return a contribution.

Refused or returned contributions shall be repaid into the account from which the contribution was made.

Recurring contributions (subscriptions) can be cancelled at any time, either directly to your own bank or also by email to admin@classicsailor.com or by telephoning us. Cancellation requests will be confirmed within 14 days when we are contacted directly.
