From MOB Lifesavers:

British Marine member, MOB Lifesavers, is joining forces with fellow member, Crewsaver, to improve safety on the waters.

The company’s lifesaver devices have just been approved for inclusion in Crewsaver’s range of lifejackets. Already, MOB Lifesavers have been supplied for the lifejackets of three additional British Marine members, SeaSafe Systems, Spinlock and Baltic Safety Products UK.

MOB Lifesaver is 3 metres of brightly visible yellow line, spliced into a loop with a triangle at one end. The other end is fitted to the lifting becket in an automatic life jacket. When the life jacket inflates, the Lifesaver floats out onto the water and is much easier and faster for the rescuer onboard to grab with a boathook and secure the casualty to the boat.

MOB Lifesavers are a result of an idea developed by Duncan Wells, the popular sailing author, who first discussed the idea with Jeremy Dale, Managing Director at Seasafe Systems and Chairman of British Marine Isle of Wight, two years ago.

Working together, the product was revised and improved resulting in Seasafe Systems being the first to test the product in their lifejackets, closely followed by the UK Maritime Pilots and Port Authorities. MOB Lifesavers are now fitted to all Teesport’s SeaSafe System’s Pro-Zip lifejackets.

Speaking on this, Duncan Wells, innovator of the MOB retrieval system, says: “We have also been asked to develop techniques for retrieval back onboard the pilot launch and devised a system that is currently in the testing stage.”
